Four Azad Kashmir Police Officers Abducted in Rawalakot by Banned JAAC
Four members of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Police — Selection Grade Constables Shahid Shafiq, Muhammad Sagheer, Constable Muhammad Ishtiaq and Constable Zeeshan Ishaq — were allegedly seized while traveling to report for duty in Rawalakot. Authorities say the kidnapping was carried out by members of the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) after a recent Rawalakot sit‑in failed to attract public support. The police claim the same group previously abducted an assistant sub‑inspector and attacked the Combined Military Hospital in the region. JAAC chief Umar Nazeer has been accused of threatening shopkeepers and distributing “traitor certificates.” Investigations are ongoing to secure the officers’ release, and residents have displayed anti‑JAAC posters on highways to protest the outfit’s activities.
