Four cities named finalists for Italian Capital of Contemporary Art 2028

Four cities have been selected as finalists for the title of Italian Capital of Contemporary Art 2028. The shortlist, announced by the Ministry of Culture, includes Capri, Pozzuoli, Padova, and an aggregation of Civita di Bagnoregio and Bolsena.

Each candidate has presented a distinct vision: Capri with ‘Le sirene del nuovo’, Civita di Bagnoregio and Bolsena with ‘Arte che viene, arte che va’, Padova with ‘Ancora imparo. Esercizi di dissidenza’, and Pozzuoli with ‘La città delle fragilità creative’.

The final selection process will involve public hearings in Rome on October 8, where candidates will present their programs to the jury. The winner will be announced by October 30 and will receive a 1 million euro contribution to implement their cultural program and planned interventions.
