Four killed in microbus collision on Chittagong-Cox's Bazar highway

Four people were killed and at least eight others were injured in a head-on collision between a microbus and a covered van on the Chittagong-Cox's Bazar highway. The accident occurred near the Shikalbaha Chaumuhani area in Karnaphuli at approximately 2:30 AM on Saturday.

The microbus was carrying passengers returning from a wedding ceremony at a community center in Chittagong's Agrabad area, heading toward Eidgah in Cox's Bazar. The collision occurred when a covered van attempting to make a U-turn struck the microbus, causing severe damage to the vehicle's front section.

Two victims, five-year-old Md. Ferdous Alam and 17-year-old Miftah, died at the scene. The microbus driver, 40-year-old Munna, and one other unidentified individual died while receiving treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital. Police have seized the covered van, but the driver and assistant fled the scene. Authorities are currently conducting operations to apprehend them.
