Four men charged with murder at Malaysian oil palm plantation

Four men, including two brothers, have been charged in the Sungai Petani Magistrates' Court with the murder of 30-year-old Badaruddin Md. Nayan. The incident allegedly occurred at an oil palm plantation in Kampung Sungai Division on August 23 between 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.

The accused are Mohamad Bakri, 37; his brother Muhamad Arif Mahidin, 26; Mohamad Iekram Mohd Zaki, 29; and Mohd Firdaus Che Mustafa, 36. The defendants understood the charges but no plea was recorded, as the offense falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

The charge is brought under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of death or imprisonment ranging from 30 to 40 years, along with a minimum of 12 strokes of the cane. The prosecution denied bail for all four individuals.

During the proceedings, the court was informed that two of the accused have medical conditions: Mohamad Iekram has a leg injury, and Mohamad Bakri suffers from asthma. The magistrate noted that prison authorities would manage their medical needs. The case is set for mention on November 15.
