Four Mexican Navy members die in Tamaulipas vehicle accident

Four members of the Mexican Navy (Secretaría de Marina) died in the early hours of Tuesday after their vehicle plunged into the Soto La Marina River near La Pesca, Tamaulipas. The accident occurred near kilometer 47 of the Soto La Marina-La Pesca highway, specifically in an area known as La Draga.

Preliminary reports indicate the vehicle left the road while traveling on a dirt path, potentially due to a loss of control. While unofficial reports have suggested factors such as speeding or alcohol consumption, authorities have not officially confirmed these details. The Fiscalía General de Justicia de Tamaulipas has opened an investigation to determine if mechanical failure or other circumstances caused the crash.

The deceased have been identified as Edgar de Jesús González Torres, Héctor Iván Vázquez González, Daniel Ocampo Esquivel, and Klebeer Israel Salvador Meza. Tamaulipas Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya expressed his condolences to the families and the naval institution following the incident.
