Four Pakistani farm workers killed in Amendolara, Italy
Four Pakistani agricultural workers were murdered in Amendolara, Calabria, Italy, their bodies burned after an attack by fellow Pakistani laborers. The killings have drawn attention to the extreme exploitation and violence affecting undocumented farm workers in Italy's informal sector.
Rosario De Luca, president of the national council of labour consultants, called the incident “an aberration that must be eradicated,” urging stronger action against caporalato, illegal work and related crimes. The case was also referenced in the Global Justice Report as an illustration of how social injustice hampers environmental sustainability and broader climate goals.
