Four teenagers drown at Tanjung Lompat beach in Kota Tinggi
Four teenagers are reported drowned while swimming at Tanjung Lompat, Desaru, in Kota Tinggi. The incident occurred during a camping trip involving a group of 16 youths.
The tragedy began when one teenager, who could not swim, drifted into deeper water. Several friends attempted to rescue him, but strong currents and waves caused them to struggle as well. While two individuals were successfully rescued by members of the public, four others were swept away.
As of the latest reports, one victim, Alif Taqiuddin Kamal Hasrul, has been recovered. Search and rescue operations are ongoing to locate the remaining three victims: Mohamad Haiman Fitri Supian, Muhammad Adib Hafiy Kamal, and Muhammad Thaqif Rayyan Rumainoor. Approximately 30 personnel from the Royal Malaysia Police, the Fire and Rescue Department, Civil Defence Force, and Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency are involved in the search, which faces challenges due to strong winds and rocky coastal terrain.
