Teenager drowning incident in Kota Tinggi

Overview

Four teenagers drowned while swimming at Tanjung Lompat beach in Kota Tinggi during a camping trip. The incident began when a teenager who could not swim drifted into deep water, leading several friends to attempt a rescue. While two individuals were saved by members of the public, four others were swept away by strong currents and waves.

One victim, Alif Taqiuddin Kamal Hasrul, has been recovered. Search and rescue operations have since been intensified to locate the three remaining missing individuals: Mohamad Haiman Fitri Supian, Muhammad Adib Hafiy Kamal, and Muhammad Thaqif Rayyan Rumainoor.

Authorities have expanded the search radius to two nautical miles northwest of the coast. To combat challenging weather and waves reaching 1.5 meters, the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency and fire department are deploying long-range drones to cover up to 20 square kilometers. Approximately 41 personnel from the Royal Malaysia Police, Civil Defence Force, and other agencies are participating in the coordinated effort.
