Four Ukrainian Citizens Rescued from Romania's Maramureș Mountains
Mountain rescuers and Romanian border police recovered four Ukrainian citizens who had crossed into Romania and become lost in the Maramureș Mountains. The operation, led by Salvamont Maramureș director Dan Benga, lasted more than eight hours and was hampered by high water flow in a four‑kilometre river stretch. All four individuals, including a 24‑year‑old initially reported missing, were found alive, had no medical problems, and were taken into custody by the Frontier Police.
The rescue team included mountain rescue specialists, a unit from the Vișeu de Sus border police sector, and was carried out on foot due to the flooded terrain.
