Fouzi Lekjaa defends political role and project responsibilities

Fouzi Lekjaa, the Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget and a member of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) political bureau, has defended his decision to engage in formal political activity. Speaking at a party meeting in Berkane, Lekjaa expressed surprise at the shift in public and media sentiment toward him following his official affiliation with the party.

Lekjaa addressed criticisms regarding the implementation of public projects in the Oriental region, specifically citing the delayed completion of the Berkane cultural complex and the regional hospital despite the full allocation of necessary funds. He emphasized the need for the government to distinguish between the allocation of financial resources and the direct executive responsibility for project implementation.

Additionally, Lekjaa dismissed allegations linking him to the sheep importation process. He clarified that his role is limited to financial management and providing liquidity, whereas executive decisions and procedural actions fall under the jurisdiction of the agricultural and commercial ministries.
