Fragrance trends highlight luxury scent profiles and Guerlain's new release
The fragrance market offers various options for achieving a sophisticated scent profile, ranging from affordable compositions to high-end luxury releases. Achieving a scent that perceived as expensive often relies on specific olfactory notes such as amber, vanilla, musk, sandalwood, saffron, and iris, rather than high price points alone.
Guerlain has released a new women's fragrance, L'Heure Bleue Eau de Parfum, which features iris as a primary note. Master perfumer and director of perfume creation Delphine Jelk utilized two distinct forms of iris—a butter and a tincture—to create the scent. The proprietary tincture provides an airy, diffusive top note, while the iris butter offers a denser heart to the composition, resulting in a soft, creamy, and suede-like aroma.
