France adds €655 million to AI funding

French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced that France will allocate an additional €655 million to artificial‑intelligence projects under the France 2030 plan. The funding is earmarked for infrastructure, computing capacity, research, companies and industrial supply chains, with the goal of strengthening digital sovereignty and improving public services.

The announcement also disclosed that the French internal security agency DGSI will terminate its contract with U.S. data‑analysis firm Palantir and switch to the French company ChapsVision, underscoring a move away from strategic dependence on foreign providers. A sovereign conversational assistant will be made available to around one million civil‑service employees to support daily tasks. The measures were unveiled on the eve of the VivaTech technology summit in Paris.
