France announces 2026 national maths conference in Strasbourg and summer school for female undergraduates

Registrations for the APMEP National Days 2026 will open in July. The multi‑day mathematics conference will be held in Strasbourg and will feature more than 70 workshops, lectures and demonstrations aimed at teachers from primary to university level. A special programme for primary‑school teachers highlights over 70 activities, including sessions on astronomical clocks, historical mathematicians and a live Enigma‑machine demonstration. The event will include a European perspective, with speakers from Germany, Luxembourg and Switzerland.

From 15 to 19 June 2026, the Math C pour L summer school took place, bringing together 28 female licence‑level students from across France. Sponsored by Sorbonne Université, Université Paris Cité, the CEA and several research laboratories, the week covered biomathematics, combinatorics, geometry, optimisation, statistics and topology. Participants also discussed gender bias in the discipline and visited the IHP museum.

Both initiatives aim to strengthen mathematics education and promote greater gender diversity within the French mathematical community.
