France announces August 2026 tax deadlines and new car fuel aid rules

The French administration has published a calendar of fiscal deadlines for August 2026. Paper tax notices will be sent to households that do not use digital filing, with payment notices arriving by 20 August and refund notices by 26 August. The online correction service opened on 29 July, allowing taxpayers to amend their returns until December. The fuel premium for low‑income commuters has been extended to 31 August, while the monthly payment deadline for property tax, housing tax and source‑deduction installments is 15 August. Property‑tax notices will be available online from 29 August and the deadline for wealth‑tax (IFI) payments is 31 August.

From 1 August 2026, the government will also raise household electricity prices by an average of 2.5 % and tighten access to the vehicle registration system (SIV). Professionals will need to demonstrate at least three years of activity and meet a minimum transaction volume to retain SIV access. The automotive trade union Mobilians welcomed the security‑focused changes but warned that further measures are required to combat fraud and cyber‑attacks.
