The French government has announced several changes to social assistance and financial aid as part of its upcoming budgetary planning.

A 100 euro fuel aid program will be launched for eligible workers between October 1 and December 31, 2026. This flat-rate support targets individuals using thermal or non-rechargeable hybrid vehicles who commute more than 15 kilometers per trip or travel over 8,000 kilometers annually for work. While some beneficiaries will receive payments automatically in mid-October 2026, others must submit an application starting October 22. The Ministry of Economy estimates this could affect up to 5.5 million people.

Separately, the government is planning reforms to the 'prime d’activité' (activity bonus) for the 2027 budget. The measure includes a freeze on the benefit, meaning it will not be adjusted for inflation in 2027. Additionally, the calculation method will change to include employer-funded contributions for health insurance, providence, and supplementary retirement within the 'montant net social' (net social amount). These changes are intended to contain rising expenditures and are projected to save approximately 332 million euros.
