France has prohibited Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben‑Gvir from entering French territory, Foreign Minister Jean‑Noël Barrot said. The ban follows Ben‑Gvir’s actions against French and other European activists aboard a Gaza‑bound flotilla, which Barrot described as “unacceptable”.

Barrot also urged the European Union to impose sanctions on Ben‑Gvir, echoing similar calls from Italy’s foreign minister. The flotilla, comprising about 428 people from 44 nations, set sail from Turkey’s Marmaris in an attempt to breach Israel’s blockade of the Gaza Strip. Israeli forces later halted the ships, arresting roughly 430 activists, including 37 French citizens who were subsequently deported.

France’s decision underscores rising diplomatic tensions over the treatment of European nationals in the Gaza conflict and may lead to coordinated EU measures against the Israeli minister.
