France: Driver license point recovery through awareness courses

Drivers in France can recover up to four points on their license by attending a two-day road safety awareness course. To be valid for point recovery, the training must be conducted by a center officially approved by the prefecture. Regulations require these sessions to last two consecutive days, meaning single-day express courses do not meet the legal requirements for point restoration.

For maximum efficiency, drivers should consider the timing of the course relative to their current balance. Since the total number of points is capped at 12, a driver with 10 points would only regain two points, whereas a driver with 8 points or fewer can fully benefit from the four-point restoration. Only one voluntary course is permitted every twelve months.
