France electric vehicle infrastructure and fleet adoption grows

France has reached a significant milestone in its transition to electric mobility. As of September 2026, the country has surpassed 202,804 public charging points, exceeding a ratio of 300 points per 100,000 inhabitants. While the number of ultra-high-power charging points increased by 28.2% over the past year, the expansion involves substantial economic considerations. High-power stations (150 kW and above) require investments ranging from 50,000 to 150,000 euros each, often supported by public subsidies such as the Advenir program or European funds.

In the corporate sector, electric vehicles are becoming a mainstay. In September 2026, 43% of new vehicles sold in France were electric, representing an 85% increase in one year. Despite this trend, industry experts note that many companies still struggle with misconceptions regarding costs, battery range, and charging logistics. Experts suggest that while transitioning a fleet requires new management strategies and infrastructure planning, the primary barrier is often outdated perceptions rather than the technology itself.
