France Emerges as Key Cross‑Border E‑Commerce Hub Amid Push for Digital Logistics

A DHL‑sponsored report finds France cementing its position as a major market for cross‑border online retail. Around 43 % of global sellers target France and Germany, making them the top destinations for international merchants. The French market also leads in recommerce, with 63 % of consumers having sold items through marketplaces, placing the country among the four most active second‑hand markets worldwide. Millennials drive this growth, and platforms such as Snapchat see high purchase rates in France (26 % of users) compared with the global average. Consumers favour flexible delivery options, with roughly a third opting for parcel‑locker pickup and over half preferring in‑store returns.

In the transport and logistics sector, firms continue to rely on manual processes for tracking equipment such as forklifts and pallets, incurring hidden costs and maintenance delays. Cloud‑based solutions that consolidate asset management, real‑time location, QR‑code/RFID tagging and automated maintenance scheduling are presented as ways to reduce these inefficiencies and improve operational visibility.

Both trends highlight a broader shift in the French commerce ecosystem toward digital tools, AI‑driven personalization and more streamlined supply‑chain management.
