France extends €100 fuel subsidy for long-distance commuters
The French government has extended and expanded a €100 fuel subsidy for “grand rouleurs” (long-distance commuters) for the final three months of 2026. Covering the period from October 1 to December 31, the aid is intended to offset rising fuel costs, providing an equivalent of approximately 40 cents per liter.
The program has been significantly broadened, with the number of potential beneficiaries increasing from 3 million to an estimated 5.5 million people.
For the 1.2 million individuals who previously received this aid between April and September, the €100 payment will be issued automatically in mid-October with no action required. However, new eligible applicants must submit a digital request via the tax authorities' website starting October 22. To apply, individuals must provide their civil status, tax number, vehicle registration number, and certify that they meet the required mileage conditions. The subsidy is specifically for workers using vehicles for professional purposes and excludes electric vehicles.
