France extends fuel aid and introduces support for rural stations
The French government has renewed the ‘grands rouleurs’ fuel aid for the period of October to December 2026. This initiative provides a flat-rate indemnity of €100 to workers who rely heavily on vehicles for their employment. The new measures include expanded income eligibility, with the reference tax income threshold per share increasing from €16,880 to €22,770. Eligibility is based on tax residency in mainland France or its five overseas departments, rather than nationality.
Additionally, the Ministry of Economy has announced a cash flow support mechanism for small, independent rural and overseas gas stations. To facilitate lower diesel prices starting November 1, the state will reimburse interest on loans up to €5,000 per station. To qualify, stations must be located in rural areas and distribute fewer than 1,200 cubic meters of fuel annually. Eligible operators must sign loan contracts between October 20 and November 20, 2026, to benefit from this interest reimbursement through the Agence de services et de paiement (ASP).
