France extends fuel subsidy for long-distance commuters

The French government has extended the application period for a fuel subsidy aimed at “grand rouleurs” (long-distance commuters). The aid provides 100 euros to eligible workers to help offset rising fuel costs.

To qualify, applicants must have been tax residents of France in 2024 and be at least 16 years old by the end of that year. The subsidy is specifically for those who travel at least 15 km per trip (30 km round trip) between home and work, or who travel at least 8,000 km annually for professional purposes.

There are also income restrictions: the household's tax reference income per share for 2024 must not exceed 16,880 euros. As of late July, approximately 970,000 people had received the aid out of an estimated 3 million eligible individuals.
