France faces multiple fire incidents on July 22, 2026

A blaze erupted on the roof of an abandoned building on Rue Paul‑Doumer in Fécamp, prompting police to establish a safety perimeter and urging nearby residents to seal doors and windows because of heavy smoke. Firefighters deployed at least five engines, and while the flames were not deemed to pose a risk of spread, the source of the fire remains under investigation.

Later the same day, a garden fire in Saint‑Inglevert triggered a smoke‑clearance operation by fire crews from Calais and Marquise. According to local emergency services, the property owner allegedly threatened the firefighters with a mass, complicating their attempts to access the site. The incident was confirmed by the departmental fire‑rescue coordination centre, although the alleged threat has not been independently verified.
