French supermarkets recall meat products over Listeria and Salmonella risks

Several French retailers have issued product recalls after laboratory tests detected harmful bacteria.

E. Leclerc recalled multiple varieties of pre‑packaged barbecue sausages sold only at its Violaines store in the Pas‑de‑Calais department between 3 – 8 July 2026 because they were contaminated with *Listeria monocytogenes*. Consumers are advised to stop using the sausages and to return them for a refund.

Carrefour announced a nationwide recall of about ten deli‑meat items, including cooked pork roasts, pork loins, rib squares, garlic sausages, pâtés and other charcuterie, after the same bacterium was found. The products were sold in Carrefour stores across France up to mid‑July 2026. Shoppers should not consume the items and may obtain a refund at the point of purchase.

Leclerc also recalled minced steaks sold in its Foix and Saint‑Jean‑du‑Falga stores in Ariège after *Salmonella* was detected in the meat. The affected batches were distributed on 16‑17 July 2026 and carry a use‑by date of 20‑21 July 2026. Consumers are urged to discard the steaks and seek medical advice if they experience fever, diarrhoea, vomiting or other symptoms, especially pregnant women, the elderly and immunocompromised individuals.
