France forest fires trigger firefighter support and restoration drives
Following recent forest fires in France, various initiatives have emerged to support firefighting efforts and environmental restoration. In the Gironde and Landes regions, Audrey Fasquel, Sandra, and Anne have launched a campaign to distribute free stickers designed by graphic designer Anne Tuffnell. The stickers, which feature the shapes of Gironde and Landes, carry the message ‘Donnez-nous les moyens’ (Give us the means) to demand increased material and human resources for firefighters facing climate-driven mega-fires. The organizers are seeking local printers to help distribute the 12x12cm stickers for free on vehicles.
Simultaneously, the Fondation du patrimoine has launched an emergency fundraising appeal to restore the Fontainebleau forest. Working with partners including the Office national des forêts (ONF), the city of Fontainebleau, and the Île-de-France region, the collection aims to fund replanting and sustainable management strategies to protect the ecosystem from future climate risks. Donations can be made online through the Foundation’s official platform.
