France fraud suspect arrested in MaPrimeRénov’ subsidy scam
A man was arrested in Jussy, Aisne, on August 6, 2026, on suspicion of orchestrating a large-scale fraud involving the MaPrimeRénov’ energy renovation subsidy program. Investigators from the financial brigade of the Somme judicial police believe the suspect created fraudulent renovation files for individuals to claim public subsidies for work that was never actually performed.
The estimated financial loss is currently valued between 500,000 and 1 million euros, with 15 victims identified so far. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine if more people were affected by the scheme.
Following a search of the suspect's home, law enforcement seized 40,000 euros from bank accounts and 196,000 euros from the sale of a secondary residence. Additionally, the suspect's primary residence and two vehicles have been placed under sequestration.
