France fuel aid: 1.5 million eligible commuters have not claimed 100-euro check

Approximately 1.5 million eligible commuters in France have not yet claimed a one-time 100-euro fuel aid check. While over 1.1 million people have already received the payment, a significant number of potential beneficiaries remain unserved as the current application deadline of September 30 approaches.

The aid is specifically targeted at low-income workers who commute at least 30 kilometers round-trip daily. Eligibility is determined by tax reference income, with specific thresholds for individuals and families.

Yaël Braun-Pivet, President of the National Assembly, has called for the extension of this support, arguing that targeted aid is a cost-effective way to address the difficulties faced by workers. She suggested that the program should potentially go further to help manage the impact of fuel prices. While a government minister acknowledged the need to better support these workers, they noted that any extension would involve significant budgetary requirements.
