France issues yellow thunderstorm alerts for dozens of departments

Météo France placed a large number of French departments under a yellow vigilance for thunderstorms on 14 June 2026. The alert covers regions in Normandy, Brittany, the south‑east and south‑west, including Alpes‑de‑Haute‑Provence, Alpes‑Maritimes, Calvados, Côtes‑d’Armor, Eure, Finistère, Ille‑et‑Vilaine, Manche, Morbihan, Orne, Hautes‑Pyrénées, Pyrénées‑Atlantiques and Seine‑Maritime. Additional vigilance was maintained in parts of Picardy (Aisne, Oise, Somme, Seine‑Maritime). The weather pattern involves warm air aloft and a developing depression between southern Portugal and Andalusia, increasing instability over Spain and southern France.

Forecasters expect isolated thunderstorm cells with possible heavy rain, hail and gusty winds, especially in the hinterland of the Alpes‑Maritimes where temperatures could reach 32 °C. Most warnings are expected to ease later in the day, though some may persist into early Tuesday morning.
