France launches blood donation awareness initiatives
Various blood donation initiatives are being organized across France to replenish essential medical reserves. In the Deux-Sèvres department, six cyclists have launched the ‘400 pour sang’ challenge. Running from September 8 to September 11, 2026, the participants are cycling 400 km to raise awareness among students at rural family houses and agricultural high schools. The goal is to encourage young people to commit to future donations once they reach the legal age.
In Limoges, the Établissement français du sang (EFS) will host a blood collection event at the Pavillon du Verdurier on September 16 and 17, 2026. The drive aims to support hospital needs for red blood cells, plasma, and platelets, which are critical for surgeries, accident recovery, and cancer treatments. Organizers recommend that residents schedule appointments via the EFS website to manage flow and minimize wait times.
