France launches new bronchiolitis prevention campaign

France is launching its national prevention campaign against infant bronchiolitis, scheduled to run from September 14, 2026, through the end of February 2027 in metropolitan France. The campaign focuses on combating the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV).

This season introduces a new monoclonal antibody, Enflonsia (clesrovimab), to the available medical arsenal. It joins Beyfortus (nirsévimab), which provides passive immunity via a single injection for infants, and Synagis (palivizumab), which remains reserved for premature infants or those at high risk. Additionally, the Abrysvo vaccine remains an option for pregnant women between the 32nd and 36th weeks of pregnancy.

In French overseas territories, the prevention schedule is staggered: starting August 31 in the French Antilles, Saint-Martin, and Saint-Barthélemy; September 28 in La Réunion; October 1 in Mayotte; and throughout the year in French Guiana.
