France marks 82nd anniversary of Provence landing with ceremonies in La Seyne-sur-Mer and Argentan

On 15 August 2026, La Seyne‑sur‑Mer will host a ceremony at the monument to Marshal Jean de Lattre de Tassigny to mark the 82nd anniversary of the Provence landing (Operation Dragoon). The event, organized by the local Souvenir Français committee and the Rhin et Danube association, will be attended by civil and military officials and the public.

From 12 to 19 August 2026, the Argentan region will stage the Route Leclerc commemorations. A series of tributes in towns such as Francheville, Fleuré, Ecouché‑les‑Vallées, Montmerrei and others will honour General Philippe Leclerc, include monument unveilings, and culminate in a Liberation evening with musical performances.
