France mobilizes for Octobre Rose breast cancer awareness campaign

Various regions across France are organizing diverse community initiatives for ‘Octobre Rose’, a national campaign dedicated to breast cancer awareness and the promotion of early screening.

In Le Bignon, the municipality is hosting workshops to create pink ribbons and setting up a message tree for public support. In the Morbihan region, the Hennebont-Lochrist Handball club is wearing pink jerseys and hosting fundraising events, including cake sales and limited-edition t-shirt sales, to benefit the Ligue contre le cancer.

In Côte-d’Or, activities include a charity gala in Bellevigne, a color run in Dijon, and themed culinary offerings in Beaune. Additionally, La Flèche is coordinating sports activities, prevention stands, and a walk/run along the Voie Vertoise to raise funds and educate the public.

Health experts emphasize that early detection is critical, noting that nine out of ten cases can be cured when identified early. In France, women aged 50 to 74 are encouraged to undergo biennial screenings covered by national health insurance.
