France braces for severe road jams during July 10‑14 holiday weekend
Bison Futé warns that the second summer‑holiday weekend (Friday 10 July to Tuesday 14 July 2026) will see red and black traffic alerts across France. Friday and Saturday are predicted to be the worst days, with nationwide congestion especially on the A10, A6, A13, A75, A61 and A7 corridors. The north‑west quarter, the Atlantic coast, Auvergne‑Rhône‑Alpes and the Mediterranean arc are expected to experience the heaviest flows, while the Île‑de‑France toll plazas will become bottlenecks from late morning onward.
Motorists are advised to depart before 08:00 or after midnight, avoid the listed highways during peak windows, and keep vehicles ready for the forecast heat (check batteries, cooling system, and stay hydrated). Using tele‑peage badges can reduce waiting times at tolls. Sunday’s traffic should ease, but the Tuesday 14 July national holiday will again see dense traffic on the Normandy and Atlantic coasts.
The combined forecasts aim to help travellers plan routes, timing and safety measures to minimise delays and heat‑related risks during the busy holiday period.
