France promotes precise home energy sizing and reversible heat pumps

In response to rising heat waves, the French government proposes a reduced VAT rate of 5.5% for reversible air‑source heat pumps, which can both cool homes in summer and provide heating in winter. These units are shown to cut overall household electricity use by about 12% despite added cooling demand.
