France rail travel sees growth through regional and national discounts
Rail travel in France is seeing increased accessibility through regional and national discount initiatives. In the Occitanie region, a program offering €1 train tickets for travelers under 27 saw significant success this summer. Approximately 910,000 tickets were sold, marking a 2% increase compared to the summer of 2025 and a 9% increase over 2024. Regional President Carole Delga noted that the initiative aims to support youth purchasing power and encourage decarbonized mobility.
On a national level, SNCF has announced its fourth 'Jours Traincroyables' campaign. Starting September 2, the company will release 200,000 Ouigo tickets priced at a maximum of €19 for travel between September 8 and December 13. The promotion covers over 70 destinations across the Ouigo high-speed and classic networks. Additionally, the campaign will include targeted discounts for TGV Inoui, Intercités, and regional TER services throughout September.
