France reports rise in Covid-19 consultations and emergency visits

Health indicators in France show a rise in Covid-19 activity during late September 2026. Data from Santé publique France indicates a significant increase in medical consultations and emergency room visits for suspected cases.

Between September 14 and 20, SOS Médecins reported a 76% increase in consultations for suspected Covid-19. Emergency room visits also rose, with a 67% increase among adults and a 16% increase among children. While these figures represent a notable uptick following the return to school and work, health officials note that levels remain comparable to or lower than those seen in previous years.

The Sentinelles network, which monitors general practitioners, estimated the incidence of Covid-19 at 9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in mainland France. This remains a small fraction of total acute respiratory infections, which reached 102 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Additionally, wastewater analysis shows a slight increase in virus concentration since the beginning of the month.
