Newer data indicates the identification of the XFG sub-lineage, a recombinant of the LF.7 and LP.8.1 lineages within the Omicron family. Wastewater monitoring in regions such as Normandy and Île-de-France shows increasing viral presence, with levels in Île-de-France reaching concentrations comparable to October 2024.
Following the return to school and office settings, Santé publique France reported a continued rise in respiratory infections. During the week of September 21 to 27, emergency department visits for suspected Covid-19 among adults rose by 22%, while consultations for all ages increased by 19%. Flu-related consultations for adults also saw a 26% increase. In response, a new vaccination campaign is scheduled to begin on October 13.
