France reports rising Covid-19 indicators in early September

Covid-19 indicators in France are showing signs of an increase as of early September 2026. Wastewater surveillance data from 54 treatment stations indicates that virus concentrations have been rising since June, with levels now approaching those seen in March.

Emergency room visits for suspected infections rose by 31% between August 24 and August 30 compared to the previous week. However, health authorities note that this increase represents only about 55 additional visits nationwide, and overall levels remain lower than in previous years.

Epidemiologist Antoine Flahault stated that while the virus is circulating more actively, there is currently no alarming information. Most health indicators, including hospitalizations and general respiratory infection activity, remain stable or at low levels.
