France seizes more than 3.8 tonnes of cannabis in record-sized port raids

On 18‑19 May 2026, French law‑enforcement agents arrested seven suspects and seized over 1.1 tonnes (1 125 kg) of cannabis—including herb, pollen and resin—hidden in clothing cartons at a warehouse in Val‑d’Oise after a suspicious container arrived at the port of Le Havre. The operation was coordinated by the SIPJ of Le Havre with support from the BRI of Rouen.

A separate raid on a Sunday at the port of Sète in the Hérault region intercepted a van arriving from Morocco. Police seized about 2.7 tonnes (2 692 kg) of cannabis resin, valued at more than €20 million, and arrested the driver and a suspected logistics worker. A further €34 000 in cash and a vehicle were confiscated. Both investigations target organized drug‑trafficking networks operating between Morocco and northern France.
