France targets Prime Video users with large-scale phishing scam

A widespread phishing campaign is targeting Amazon Prime Video subscribers in France. Fraudsters send emails that appear to come from Amazon, claiming the user's subscription has been automatically renewed after a trial period and prompting the recipient to cancel a purported €69.90 annual fee. The messages include authentic‑looking IBAN numbers to increase credibility and provide a fraudulent link that, when clicked, captures Amazon login credentials and banking details.

Victims are advised to verify the sender’s address (legitimate messages use @amazon.fr or @amazon.com), avoid clicking links in unsolicited emails, and instead log into their Prime Video account directly through Amazon’s official website. The campaign echoes previous phishing waves in France, such as those impersonating the telecom provider Free, and references a fabricated “new European regulation” requiring urgent verification of subscriber bank information.
