A critical cybersecurity breach has targeted the French tax administration, resulting in the theft of sensitive data belonging to several hundred thousand users. The intrusion exploited vulnerabilities within the public network, exposing personal fiscal information that holds high market value for criminals.

Authorities have noted that such attacks against fiscal systems have increased in both frequency and intensity since 2026. The hacking group ZeroBytes has been frequently identified in connection with these operations. The stolen data poses a significant risk for massive fraud, including identity theft and the creation of fraudulent files, which has impacted public trust in government institutions.
