France: Two suspects detained over child sexual assault allegations

Authorities in France have taken legal action against two separate suspects accused of sexual violence against young children in educational settings.

In Paris, an English language instructor from CapEnglish was placed in police custody following allegations of rape, sexual assault, and violence against children aged 3 to 5 at the Saint-Laurent Catholic preschool. The investigation, handled by the Brigade de protection des mineurs, follows more than 20 complaints. The suspect, an Algerian national, reportedly conducted sessions in small groups without the presence of a teacher.

In Saint-Aubin-d’Aubigné, a 21-year-old extracurricular instructor has been formally charged with rape and sexual assault of minors under 15 at the Paul-Gauguin school. The case was initiated after colleagues reported the suspect's behavior and the receipt of sexual content. The investigation involves two girls, aged 4 and 5, and follows reports from parents regarding the children's fears. The suspect denies all allegations.
