France's 2027 presidential race sees Marine Le Pen poised for win and Marine Tondelier campaigning

He said Le Pen would prefer to face left‑wing candidate Jean‑Luc Mélenchon in a runoff, believing centre voters would not back Mélenchon.

Meanwhile Marine Tondelier, the Ecologists' candidate, is shaping her campaign around ecological and social reforms. She targets the National Rally as a primary opponent, proposing policies such as ending nuclear power, imposing a 2 % wealth tax on fortunes above €100 million, and raising the legal retirement age to 62. Tondelier also announced her pregnancy, presenting it as evidence that political life can be combined with motherhood and a call for renewal in French politics.
