The French audiovisual regulator Arcom imposed a €200,000 fine on the rolling‑news channel CNews for two broadcast segments aired in 2025. One segment linked post‑Champions League violence after Paris Saint‑Germain’s win to children of Arab‑Muslim immigrants, describing them as "barbarians" and a "civilisation problem". The other featured a Belgian municipal councilor wearing a veil, presented as evidence of a "Great Replacement" narrative. Both segments were deemed likely to incite hatred, fear and discriminatory behaviour.

Erik Tegnér, founder of the identitarian media Frontières, appeared as a commentator in both broadcasts. CNews, owned by billionaire Vincent Bolloré, said it would appeal the sanction. The regulator had previously ordered the channel in June to comply with rules on pluralism and diversity of opinion, bringing it close to further disciplinary action.
