France's Beaufort-en-Anjou and Limoges Adjust Services Amid Heat Wave
In Beaufort‑en‑Anjou, municipal authorities have shortened opening hours for public facilities from July 7 as the department remains under a yellow heat‑wave alert, with a risk of escalation to orange. The library will operate only mornings on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, the museum will be open limited hours from Wednesday to Sunday, and the waste‑sorting centre will run continuously with household waste collection starting an hour earlier.
Limoges has introduced specific measures for schools and care homes. Parents may keep children at home on June 22 to reduce classroom numbers, while schools will provide extra water, encourage light clothing and limit physical activity. Classrooms will be ventilated early, and fans or coolers deployed. Municipal EHPADs are increasing ventilation, using misting devices and ensuring ample water supplies, with staff trained to watch for signs of dehydration among residents.
Both towns urge residents to stay hydrated, keep windows open at night, use fans, and seek medical assistance if needed, emphasizing community safety during the prolonged high temperatures.
