France's Cinema Festival Offers 5‑Euro Double Feature During Heatwave

From June 28 to July 1, France’s annual Fête du cinéma invites moviegoers to attend any screening for €5. The promotion coincides with a heatwave, prompting a 50 % rise in cinema attendance compared with the same period last year, according to the national cinema federation.

Organisers highlighted a special double‑feature of the two‑hour‑forty‑minute films “La Bataille de Gaulle: J’écris ton nom” and its predecessor “L’âge de fer,” now available back‑to‑back for the reduced price. Actors and directors praised the length as justified for the epic World‑War‑II story, noting that audiences responded positively despite the unusually long run‑time.

The festival’s programme also includes a mix of comedies, thrillers, animation and drama, such as “Les Caprices de l’enfant roi,” “Backrooms,” “Jim Queen,” and “Shana,” offering diverse choices for both regular cinephiles and casual viewers seeking a cool refuge from the scorching weather.
