France's DGSI awards AI contract to ChapsVision, dropping Palantir

France’s domestic intelligence agency, the DGSI, announced on June 16 that it will replace Palantir’s Gotham platform with ChapsVision’s ArgonOS system for critical data analytics. The decision, backed by a €655 million state investment in AI, is part of a broader push for European technological sovereignty. ChapsVision, founded in 2019, now employs about 1,000 people, operates in 40 countries and generated roughly €200 million in revenue for the 2024/2025 fiscal year.

German intelligence, the BfV, has also selected ChapsVision over Palantir, signalling a coordinated move by two of Europe’s largest security services toward the French up‑start. Palantir, which still holds a renewed contract with the DGSI until 2025, had previously secured a smaller DGSI contract in 2024. The shift reflects growing concerns in Europe about reliance on U.S. defence‑tech firms and the desire to develop home‑grown AI capabilities.
