Amid a severe heatwave with temperatures above 35 °C, French discount retailer Action launched low‑cost UV‑protective parasols, pricing a round UV‑50+ model at €7.99 and a larger 3‑metre offset version at €47.99. The products, made from polyester fabrics rated UV30+ to UV50+, are promoted as affordable shade solutions for balconies, gardens and beaches.

Health experts note that misting devices can give an immediate feeling of coolness by evaporative cooling, but they do not replace essential heat‑wave precautions such as staying hydrated, seeking shade and avoiding strenuous activity during peak heat. Proper use requires clean water to prevent microbial growth, and misting is most effective when combined with airflow and in low‑humidity conditions.
