France's SN HLM launches land reclamation operation in Bambilor amid illegal occupation

The National Society of Low‑Cost Housing (SN HLM) is conducting a large‑scale operation to retake and rehabilitate its land holdings after illegal occupation and parceling of a 20‑hectare site in Bambilor. Authorities, including the deputy prefect, sub‑prefect, cadastral officials and urban planning services, intervened to restore order after land grabbers claimed ancestral ownership and burned tires in protest.

Separately, the National Housing Confederation (CNL) announced plans to file a complaint with the Paris judicial prosecutor over the French state's alleged inaction on thermally deficient housing during the recent heat wave. CNL president Eddie Jacquemart cited a 29.1% rise in excess deaths, largely among the elderly, and warned that millions are exposed to dangerous indoor temperatures in energy‑inefficient homes, urging stronger legislative and regulatory measures.
