Francesco Boccia challenges Meloni government over energy costs

During the regional Unità Festival in Lamezia Terme, Francesco Boccia, the Democratic Party (PD) group leader in the Senate, issued a sharp critique of the Meloni government regarding energy policy and regional development.

Boccia argued that the government has failed to address rising energy costs and has neglected the South, specifically Calabria. He challenged the administration to utilize approximately 14 billion euros in available European budget space for energy to support families, businesses, and infrastructure. He proposed using these funds to reduce energy vulnerability and build long-term autonomy rather than relying on temporary emergency measures.

Additionally, Boccia addressed upcoming political contests, supporting Frank Benedetto as a candidate in Reggio Calabria. He characterized the current political landscape as a failure of the right to provide structural solutions for the country.
